Akron, Ohio, is known for their work in rubber and plastics and the University of Akron’s College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering is one of the finest in the country. During the month of October, the university will highlight the developments in the plastics and rubber industry by hosting the Akron Polymer Conference.

Designed to show new products, the newest technologies being used in plastic extrusions and polymers as well as visits from distinguished alumni now working in the industry, this will be an exciting event for those in the plastics, rubber and polymer industries.

During the two day conference, held October 2nd and 3rd, 2014, there will be sessions on surfaces and interfaces as well as an employee career fair. A wide variety of networking and social events will provide industry leaders with the opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities that their individual businesses are facing as well as discuss new technologies. The conference includes plans for a golf outing and an afternoon watching the University of Akron football team take on Eastern Michigan.

Registration for the event includes all of the technical talks, admission to the poster session as well as light meals. The seminar topics will include a welcome by the Dean of the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering, information on high performance adhesives for low energy surfaces, surface analysis and imaging using mass spectrometers, and the effect of droplet size and surface chemistry.
